UOB Thailand supports local artists’ regional pursuits with the 14th UOB Painting of the Year Competition launch

» UOB Thailand is calling for established and emerging Thai artists to enter Thailand’s only regional art competition – the 14th UOB Painting of the Year (POY). This year’s programme focuses on supporting the local art community and creative young minds to make their artistic mark on the regional art scene. Additionally, UOB Painting of the Year, one of Southeast Asia’s most prestigious annual art competitions, will expand to its fifth country, Vietnam, this year.

Bangkok Design Week is back

Under the "Co With Creation" theme, the design week has a threefold mission. First, to encourage creators' creativity and experimentation to create a new normal lifestyle. Second, to support creative businesses and communities to generate income. And, third, to revitalise creative districts of Charoen Krung-Talad Noi, Sam Yan, Ari-Pradipat, Thonglor-Ekamai and Phra Nakhon through online and offline activities. » As part of the 2021 UOB Painting of the Year (Thailand) competition, artists were allowed to create paintings without restrictions in terms of imagination and ingenuity since there was no specific theme. The results were rewarding. The winner of UOB Painting of the Year (Thailand) in the established artist category, Vachira Kornthong, created a mixed media on canvas painting, Land Of Happiness, which depicts the hidden beauty and abundant happiness found in nature. Land Of Happiness stood out with its use of vibrant colours combined with a fabric applique technique. The message of nature conservation that the artwork implies also touched viewers.
