» Every Saturday, try the running workshop at Lumpini Park, a free activity that is gaining popularity. The general perception is that running workshops are for elite runners -- national team athletes with dreams of becoming Olympians. But that's not true. The Saturday outdoor running lab is run by Sathavorn Chanpongsri, a former national athlete who won a bronze medal for marathon at the Sea Games 1985, and a respected coach in the local running circle. People seem to forget that these politicians are meant to serve, not to entertain, nor to bond with us.

» I'm no fan of apps nor of online games. Yet the news on Monday about the launch of Human Fence, an app created by Greenpeace Southeast Asia and the Tha Sala community in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, prompted me to download it to my Facebook page right away.

» I often wonder why Chinese banquets are hysterically cheerful, rather noisy, with guests constantly moving from one table to another, holding cups brimful with rice liquor known as bai jiu.

» Every party comes to an end. So too does the 2012 London Olympic Games, which arrives at its curtain call on Sunday. At the closing ceremony, all eyes will shift to Rio de Janeiro, the city that will take over the torch. Brazil is another BRIC countries _ a new emerging economy beside China, India and Russia _ that plays host to the Games. (Please stand up India, as I am totally convinced that a New Delhi or Mumbai Summer Olympics will shame London and Beijing.)
