» Over-crowded Phuket is increasingly becoming the least of my favourite holiday islands. However, to get away from the tourists (the irony doesn't fail me either) I often choose the furthest tip of the island. Having been a fan of Cape Panwa for a while, it was time to try out its neighbour Sri Panwa. Not really a resort to enjoy the beach, Sri Panwa more than makes up with the view.

» Sophirat Muangkum is a nude photographer based in Bangkok and is the founderof All About Nude Thailand. All About Nude is a group of art nude photographers who have their own obvious approach creations for nude photography. The objective of the group is to get people to understand the nude art concept. Sophirat's works have been exhibited at the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre, Photo Fair Thailand, Midnice Gallery, Radisson Blu, Kudeta, and Rebel Art Space among others. Sophirat's images have been published and featured in Vogue Italia, Zoomaa Norway, Kalblut magazine in Germany as well as local magazines such as Blast and Play. Guru speaks to Sophirat about her passion for human skin.

» Supawit "Palm" Muttarattana, group bar manager for Foodie Collection, won "Bartender of the Year 2019" at Sunday's Bar Awards 2019 held in Bangkok and has been on the local bar scene since 2009. His passion for cocktails earned him top prize at Diageo World Class Thailand 2012 and he soon became brand ambassador for Diageo Reserve Thailand. This year in Milan, Italy, Palm won "Campari Bartender Competition Asia 2019", where he competed against 350 bartenders from across Asia. Apart from overseeing Vesper, il Fumo, La Dotta Pasta Bar, La Dotta La Grassa, Via Maris Bistro & Natural Wine Bar and 80/20, he is a partner at Backstage Cocktail Bar. Palm talks to Guru about his "clean, classical style with a strong focus on techniques and ingredients. A twist on classic cocktails" mixology and more.

» The 2019 list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, was announced last night at an awards ceremony at Wynn Palace, Macau. After holding the No.1 spot for four consecutive years, Gaggan in Bangkok moves to No.2, acceding to Odette in Singapore. Chef Julien Royer’s Odette claims the coveted titles of The Best Restaurant in Asia and The Best Restaurant in Singapore.

A quirky world of sweet treats

» While her scones are the talk of the town, she is also renowned for her creative pastries. Chef Penny Jirayuwatana, better known as Penny the Chef, graduated from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), and has more than 20 years' experience in kitchens in America and Europe, including at the award-winning Dominique Ansel Bakery London, the Mandarin Oriental London and Mercer Kitchen by Jean George Vongerichten in New York. Penny has also had the opportunity to cook for Prince Charles at Windsor Palace. Born and raised in Bangkok, she has been back home for the last four years and works as a consultant for bakeries, food factories and airlines, apart from making appearances as a guest judge on Masterchef Thailand and Iron Chef Thailand. Penny has most recently partnered with 137 Pillars Hotel and Suites Bangkok to curate a special Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea set.
