Eatery and entertainment

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 09/03/2018

» Opened in late December, Oh Chic embodies both eatery and entertainment at one address. The place is where you can dine, dance and be entertained. With an ambiance that I would dub as "Oriental chic" (PC police, please don't write to me), it wouldn't be too hard to imagine killing several hours here, in style. As you explore this vast venue, you'll come across decor that is, well, Asian. Think upside-down umbrellas on the ceiling, a bar with a Chinese pattern in the front and ceiling lamps with birdcage lampshades. For that matter, Oh Chic's logo is that of Asian lady.

Budget Rethink?

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 21/04/2017

» Our dear cabinet recently approved a budget to buy 10 made-in-China tanks worth two billion baht while key members also seem keen on a plan proposed by the Royal Thai Navy to buy three submarines worth 36 billion baht. While I'm sure these dear sirs exercised their sound rationale before agreeing to such big purchases for the sake of Thailand's security, IMHO, with utmost respect, I would like to point out that there are other more beneficial ways the money could be used too.

James, as the show's host, explores Thailand in quirky ways from drinking ya dong, eating weird food, to braving a haunted house. Ping, as James' guide, is known in small circles as an eccentric film maker with short films starring murderous Barbie dolls. In less than three months, their show already has garnered a strong following with over 100,000 likes on its Facebook page. Guru chats with the duo about their up-and-coming show which you can follow at fb.com/eatstreetrepeat.

Dos and Don'ts: Bangkok Transport Edition

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 18/09/2015

» "Bangkok Car Free Day 2015" will take place on Sunday (Sep 20). "Car free days" are organised in different cities around the world to encourage people to get around without cars, and instead use mass transit, cycle or walk. To commemorate this year's car-free day, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration encourages you to join its bike rally and street fair near Sanam Luang, using public transport to get there. But we think you can do better than that. We present the dos and don'ts to help you use (or, in some cases, brave) various forms of Bangkok transportation like a pro.
