» This month my trustworthy Japanese car turns 15. With so many scratches and dents on her body, she's like an old lady with lots of wrinkles and hollows. The poor car surely deserves restoration, if not retirement. But her engine still runs strong, and it would be sad to see her being sent to a scrapyard and treated as junk.

Furthermore, I fear that the rice subsidy scheme and other similar schemes are rapidly leading to a divide in Thailand which may result in even worse disruption than we saw in 2010. These schemes look likely to become unstoppable until the next crisis occurs.
