» I was very surprised to read in the Bangkok Post article printed on Thursday, "Melee over wildlife issue gathers steam", that the deputy director-general of the National Parks, Wildlife and Conservation Department claims that Edwin Wiek runs the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT) rescue centre in Phetchaburi as a ''private zoo to get donations to feed his business''. This is clearly contradicted by a recent experience my wife and I had.

» Trans-national criminal gangs which traffic in people get rich by exploiting the weak and vulnerable. Their methods range from shady job brokers who cheat workers by making them pay for non-existent jobs overseas to young women lured across borders to work in restaurants that turn out to be brothels or sweatshops. They intimidate the underprivileged and enslave migrants in factories and on fishing boats. By any definition of human wrongdoing, they are the lowest of the low.
