Ad a glance -- 2015

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 18/12/2015

» We've seen some genius ads this year in Thailand. Thai Life Insurance's tear-jerking "Garbage Man" makes you want to hug the first street sweeper you see. "Every Mouthful is Meaningful" by CP makes you want to call your mother right that very moment. Thai ads also seem to be loved the world over -- even foreign websites have featured "Thai ads that make you cry" .

Desk makeover

Guru, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 04/12/2015

» Rain. The word fills Bangkokians with fear, especially in rainy season. It can lead to so many unhappy incidents — horrendous hours-long traffic jams, power outages, fallen trees, floods, rodents on the run or just plain getting soaked from head to toe.

Beauty is bold

» Chanisara Wongyara is contradictory. She is both extraordinary and ordinary. Known and loved for her quirky poses, bold fashion statements and careless vibe of her Instagram pictures, she is surprisingly meek and mellow in person.

A traditional tool for the non-traditional

Life, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 17/02/2015

» Separation is hard on the couple, but it can be even harder on the kids. They are labelled children of "broken homes". They are perceived as "troubled kids". People assume that they don't get enough love and are more inclined to turn out bad. The worst part is that if the society lets such terrible assumptions continue, the kids will start to believe they are true. That can't be a good thing for our society.

» The 10-day Vegetarian Festival which started last Wednesday and ends on Thursday is a good time to think about our consumption, not only of food but also in more general terms; about the impact that our lifestyle has on the lives of other creatures who share this world with us.

Hail a cab from the couch

Muse, Napamon Roongwitoo, Published on 22/03/2014

» Like many Thai girls, Juthasree Kuvinichkul was taught by her parents not to ride in taxis alone because of safety issues. Even men sometimes prefer not to take taxis because of negative stories we often hear about the drivers — rudeness, reckless driving, robbery and road rage, to name a few.
