News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 01/09/2013

» In my Aug 29 article, "Civil War? A Scenario", we discussed the straw that might break the buffalo's back. The fear looms that over the next few years, Thaksin Shinawatra could possibly monopolise power in the Kingdom and create a one-party democratic dictatorship without checks and balances.

Don't make senate a family affair

News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 25/08/2013

» Let's entertain the idea that's generating so much talk and controversy around the country, the amendment of the law on how senators are selected. If we are to change a law, there ought to be a benchmark, and that benchmark should be the principles of democracy.

Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 22/08/2013

Amnesty: crime without punishment

Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 08/08/2013

» In Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment, young Rodion was getting away with murder. However, his guilty conscience eventually compelled him to surrender to the law. The story is of course fictional, and someone being compelled by their conscience to surrender would be a rare exception in real life.

A role reversal in this ship of fools

News, Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 04/08/2013

» Here we go again. At the time you are reading this, out in the streets there are a) clashes and chaos between multitudes of protesters and security personnel, or b) three people in masks and two in multi-colour shirts camping out peacefully in front of Government House.

Diary of a mad prai

Voranai Vanijaka, Published on 01/08/2013

» For every single person you put onto the streets, we can put ten. Every time that you march in the streets, we can shake the concrete pavement with our rubber sandals tenfold. We will hound you. We will intimidate you. We will push, shove and knock you down. You people wearing masks like little kids. You think you are legion? No, we are legion.
