» I bumped into one of my former students one evening last week travelling home on the BTS. As a computer engineer he is interested in technology and asked me about the AirPods. I took them out to chat. He told me that he had heard that they fell out easily. Not true, I said. Not once, even riding on the back of motorcycles through the Thon Buri sois has this happened.

Improving connections to the new MacBook Pro

» When writing a summary of 2016 on my own site recently, I made a prediction: Apple's Q1 2017 financial results would be announced on Jan 24. I was wrong, it will be on the 31st, and as always will feature live audio transmission, although it will be at about 5am here.

New year, new predictions

» It is another new year and I expect there will be many new Mac and iPad and iPhone owners. It is also prediction time again. I do not join this game, nor the one in which Apple is told what it must do. Note that after insisting on a larger iPhone (there are two now of course) some say that Cupertino must produce a smaller one, with a 4-inch screen.

A spare MacBook Pro on the way

» There were a couple of interesting reactions to the recent article on my failed MacBook Pro (Sept 1). The first came late that Wednesday morning when I was contacted by the agent who told me that the computer was to be collected that day: more than two weeks after I requested this. Another reaction came from a local user with the same MacBook Pro (and the same 2.16GHz MacBook Pro before) who had an "Aha!" moment when he read the article: the same had been happening to him.

Apple iPhone and the future

» This is a busy week for people following Apple. If you are reading this column on Wednesday, Jan 27, early yesterday Thai time Apple's First Quarter financial results were announced. This was expected to be another good quarter, following high sales over the New Year period: some reports showed a 31 percent increase over the previous year.
