The glue doesn't stick

News, Postbag, Published on 16/06/2019

» The excuse that the "skewed scales must have been due to poor glueing during its making" offered by the director of the Chumpholphonphisai School in explanation for the controversial Wai Kru flower arrangements as reported in the Bangkok Post's June 15 edition, is priceless.

Shame on Democrats

News, Postbag, Published on 28/05/2019

» All the ambivalence and paradoxes of recent Thai politics cannot be conceived of as linear processes, as Thais are confronted with a consolidation of the power constellation and the democratisation of powerlessness.

Just the way it is...

News, Postbag, Published on 27/05/2019

» The headline on the March 26 Sunday editorial, "Politicians must put public first", caught my eye. "The interruption gave the impression that some politicians are still self-serving, rather than serving both their voters and their country. This is unfortunate." However, he does not name any others apart from Thaksin Shinawatra, nor does he give us the faintest clue why Mr Thanathorn personally should be regarded as "poisonous".

Government lottery

News, Postbag, Published on 20/04/2019

» The current impasse with Thai politics in selecting a prime minister might never be resolved due to the problems with the rules as stipulated in the 2017 charter. Obviously, the rules were inadequate because there is no readily available solution.

Democratic justice

News, Postbag, Published on 13/04/2019

» I wish to thank the 12 diplomats and their respective democratic countries for finally supporting the Thai people. Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai's comment, "It's an intervention in our justice system" is a joke. Without a truly democratically elected government there is no justice.
