Her taunting look is, however, followed by a sheepish chuckle, before she adds: "Gosh, this outfit is actually really uncomfortable and kind of revealing too. I guess I should go change." Gone are her fashionably freewheeling days -- her closet now tipping more mother than model. But that's about the most that has changed for this style icon, best known as one half of the modelling/actress twins Petch-Ploy.

» There's something simple, but exceedingly special about Tawjan Catherine Punyasingh's recently released cookbook Great Food Good Fest. A quick skim through would evoke the same reflex of going "awww" at dog pictures, except there are squid and salted egg lava buns in these pictures, instead. Something about it just warms your heart and fills you with a pressing urge to get up to make these dishes, even if you are the type that couldn't cook to save yourself. Perhaps it is the book's realistic nature, and as we meet at her home, she whips up a strawberry hazelnut chocolate tart and pumpkin and corn croquette for us -- something even the most hopeless can make this holiday season.

» It's official: being nosy is now an attribute Thai people have willingly added to their biodata. We even have a particular word to soften it. The crude Thai slang suak, meaning irritably meddling and snooping in the most repugnant manner, has been given a curse-free incarnation, so people can use the word more openly and flagrantly. To avoid sounding boorish, people now say puak, which still sounds like the original slang word, but actually means "taro".
