» William Boyd (PostBag, Nov 17) is right to complain about being scammed by BTS staff. However when he states, “I am not Thai, but I am a human being” this is true only some of the time in Thailand.

» On Nov 15 at 8.30am, as I exited BTS Asoke on my way to church, a woman yelled at me, “Are you Thai?” When I replied no, she demanded to see my passport. I showed her my Thai driving licence, as I do not carry my passport with me. She then rudely snatched my BTS ticket from my hand. I tried to get it back and she called security and a supervisor.

» Well done to Sanitsuda Ekachai (Opinion, Nov 11) for boldly asking questions about the suspicious detention deaths of two people accused of lese majeste. Defending the good name of our monarchy is of paramount "national" importance here, but every opaque and questionable use of this law has a negative impact on the institution it is trying to defend.

» I fully agree with Nigel Pike's sentiments, "Be wary of invaders", (BP Aug 29). I too have learned to greatly respect Thailand's immigration control, protecting its borders. A nation without borders has no sovereignty as we witness in Europe. All 28 European Union member states have lost their sovereignty because they joined the EU.
