The khon spectacle is merrier than ever

» The Support Foundation's annual khon performance never fails to entertain its audience. This year's instalment is a hugely enjoyable production of The Allegiance Of Phiphek episode from the Ramakien. The acting, dancing, costumes and props are as impressive as ever. And while the production may be restricted to a slightly more economical setting, this has been compensated for with funnier dialogue, including plenty of satirical gags riffing on current events.
The return of royal khon

» The wait is over for the return of the annual khon masked dance. The much-loved performance by the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques (Support Foundation) of HM Queen Sirikit under the Reign of King Rama IX will make a comeback at the Thailand Cultural Centre from Nov 3 until Dec 5, this time featuring an episode called The Allegiance Of Phiphek.

Retro Hua Hin

» From April 28 until May 7, the "Hua Hin Of Yesteryear Fair" will take place at Queen's Park in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. This annual event is held in celebration of the royal wedding of the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and HM Queen Sirikit on April 28, 1950, and their honeymoon at Klai Kangwon Palace in Hua Hin which began a day later.

» The Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles in the compound of the Grand Palace will host a variety of activities, including exhibitions, talks, workshops and cultural performances, from Friday to Jan 11. The objective is to celebrate the 84th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen on Aug 12. Tomorrow from 3-5pm, the event will be inaugurated by a fashion show entitled, "Thai Fabrics In The World Of Fashion", featuring clothes designed by six famous Thai designers.
