"Maritime Spirits": Southeast Asia Meets Venice

» The Bangkok Art Biennale (BAB) Foundation presents The Spirits of Maritime Crossing, a group exhibition by artists from Southeast Asia examining the themes of displacement, diaspora, and colonialism through the lens of the ocean curated by Prof. Dr. Apinan Poshyananda, Artistic Director of Bangkok Art Biennale. The exhibition is co-hosted by One Bangkok and is on view from 20th April to 24th November 2024 at Palazzo Smith Mangilli Valmarana, Venice, which has not been accessible to the public for 11 years.

US museum returning looted Southeast Asian artefacts

» The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has agreed to return 16 major Khmer era artworks to Cambodia and Thailand. The works are associated with Douglas Latchford, a prolific dealer who was indicted as an illegal trafficker of ancient artefacts shortly before his death in Bangkok in 2020.

As our bus set out to Museum San, which is located in the town of Gyeonggi, I noticed that the trees had started to drop their leaves in preparation for winter, resulting in vibrantly yellow, red and orange hues on both sides of the winding hilly roads.
