Life through the lens of a batik maker

» Jantima Sukmetta, 52, gradually unfolds a batik fabric. It has distinguished colours of golden yellow and brown, the naturally dyed colours from turmeric and leaves of khonthi (beach vitex). The khonthi plant is easily found along beaches in tambon Na Thap of Chana district in the southern province of Songkhla, where her Me-D Na Thap Batik Group is located.

» From April 28 until May 7, the "Hua Hin Of Yesteryear Fair" will take place at Queen's Park in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. This annual event is held in celebration of the royal wedding of the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and HM Queen Sirikit on April 28, 1950, and their honeymoon at Klai Kangwon Palace in Hua Hin which began a day later.

» The Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles in the compound of the Grand Palace will host a variety of activities, including exhibitions, talks, workshops and cultural performances, from Friday to Jan 11. The objective is to celebrate the 84th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen on Aug 12. Tomorrow from 3-5pm, the event will be inaugurated by a fashion show entitled, "Thai Fabrics In The World Of Fashion", featuring clothes designed by six famous Thai designers.
