Getting back into the work groove

Guru, Sumati Sivasiamphai, Published on 19/04/2013

» If you made it back to work this week after the extended Songkran holidays, congratulations! You should really get a raise or at least a backrub from your too-touchy colleague. But managing to get your pants on in the morning and returning to the office after a vacation is only part of the battle; actually getting stuff done and being productive is why they keep paying you the little baht.

The joke's on us!

Guru, Sumati Sivasiamphai, Published on 05/04/2013

» Since Monday started off with April Fools' Day, it only seems fitting to neatly tie up the week with more ridiculous gags. Or I could offer an 800-word analysis of the 24.71 per cent market synergy monetizing the bottom line affecting 200-and-ninety-eleven shares leveraging commodities. But considering I just strung a bunch of random smart-sounding words and numbers together, it's obvious no one would want to read that.

Don't let your job give you wrinkles!

Guru, Sumati Sivasiamphai, Published on 15/02/2013

» Besides bringing you yesterday's news tomorrow, we here at Guru want to do our part to help make the lives of Bangkokians better. But unfortunately our repeated requests to implement a zero-day work week and make every hour a Happy Hour have been ignored.

What our corruption looks like

Guru, Sumati Sivasiamphai, Published on 01/02/2013

» Corruption this, corruption that! From the highest ranks of government to the lowest thugs on the streets, the "C" word is constantly cited as the reason our country will never flourish to its full potential. But don't look to the typical apathetic citizen for solutions, as a 2011 Abac poll found that 64.5 per cent of Thais find corruption acceptable if the government can make the country prosper. And even if you find this ethically degrading, I'm sure all these so-called morals go out the tinted window when you're in a situation where some purple or grey notes can easily get you out of a bind.

Do not pass go

» Great news, people! You can now cross "taxi driver" off the list of people who constantly reject your advances because starting from tomorrow (Sep 1), traffic police are going to arrest and fine cabbies who refuse service to passengers.
