» How much can you trust an Internet Domain? When you go to, say, http://www.reliableshopping. com, how much can you find out about it? Theoretically when a domain is registered it should have information on who did so. You can use tools like http://www.whois.net to do a quick check. In the case of the site above, I found it is owned by godaddy.com. Trying http://www.internic.net to look it up found even less info, but I did ascertain that the domain will expire soon.

» The most efficient and honoured minister of Information and Communications Technology in more than a year asked Chinese companies if they could design a satellite to replace the original Thaicom One; the request, signed by the Defence Ministry as well as by Ranongruk Suwanchwee herself, would call a Chinese-designed bird a Thai name, and use it to replace the satellite that Shin Corp, now of Shingapore, refuses to replace; assuming the Chinese are willing (haha) to design a satellite and deal with the canny minister, it remains to be seen whether they also would like to build, fit, launch and perhaps maintain the bird, and how that would fit in with the Defence Ministry's contention since September, 2006, that foreigners should not be involved in Thai telecoms.

» Google sent its best PR people out to tell the media that it was "taken aback" by complaints and a raft of media stories about how Google Buzz had severe privacy issues; the problem, the spin doctors said, was that Buzz was tested inside Google before being foisted on the public at large, and people working at Google didn't seem to mind that the new social network set them up with a group of people to follow and be followed by - presumably because most of them knew each other, or close to it; even the PR mavens seemed hugely unaware that much of the digital world is already sceptical about Google's actions and intentions, since it never provides a clue what it does with the vast amount of information it already has accumulated.
