» In the difficult lives of labourers, two talented artists, Chaiyan Ninlabon and Maneerat Thamnarak, found inspiration to create works for the exhibition "Early Years Project #6: In A Cogitation", which is on display at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). Chaiyan and Maneerat were two of eight finalists selected from 80 applicants for "The Early Years Project #6".

» UOB Thailand is calling for established and emerging Thai artists to enter Thailand’s only regional art competition – the 14th UOB Painting of the Year (POY). This year’s programme focuses on supporting the local art community and creative young minds to make their artistic mark on the regional art scene. Additionally, UOB Painting of the Year, one of Southeast Asia’s most prestigious annual art competitions, will expand to its fifth country, Vietnam, this year.

» As part of the 2021 UOB Painting of the Year (Thailand) competition, artists were allowed to create paintings without restrictions in terms of imagination and ingenuity since there was no specific theme. The results were rewarding. The winner of UOB Painting of the Year (Thailand) in the established artist category, Vachira Kornthong, created a mixed media on canvas painting, Land Of Happiness, which depicts the hidden beauty and abundant happiness found in nature. Land Of Happiness stood out with its use of vibrant colours combined with a fabric applique technique. The message of nature conservation that the artwork implies also touched viewers.

Looking closely, the forms on the work seem abstract, yet from afar, they are clearly human figures kneeling down as if praying.
