» Though the rainy season has officially started in some parts of the country, it appeared we were in luck when rain clouds drifted off Phuket. The Sun was shining and the sky was clear when we arrived at Visit Panwa Pier, where a fleet of speedboats and catamarans were cruising the water to pick up passengers.

» A car travels down a long peaceful road with lush green paddy fields on each side that will soon be superseded by crops of cassava, corn and sugar cane during the off-season. This scene reminds us of Prince Damrong Rajanubhab's 1904 journey to Phetchabun, when he discovered the ancient town of Si Thep which was recorded in a late Ayutthaya and early Rattanakosin document.

» When I visited Ayutthaya Historical Park last week, I noticed some tourists posing for photos among the ruined temples while wearing classic period attire. My companions and I started to perspire under the brilliant blue sky and soaring temperatures, but they carried on happily exploring various places to take in the nostalgic atmosphere. I could not help but admire how eager they were to enjoy their vacation.

» Honouring Lord Buddha, the annual Bun Luang and Phi Ta Khon Festival will return to the northeastern town of Dan Sai in Loei from Friday to Sunday. According to the lunar calendar, this well-known ghost mask festival is held annually on different days as Wat Phon Chai and Chao Pho Kuan's House serve as the main venues for the three-day religious rites.

» As the summer heat in Surin rose, we made our way to Satom Organic Farm in Chom Phra district. It is located among vast organic fields temporarily covered with yellow sunn hemp in the post-harvest season. This farm belongs to Sutaen Sukjit, who abandoned office work in Bangkok and returned home with a commitment to sustainable living.
