For biosafety or business?

» Questions about food safety and stability in Thailand have arisen after the Cabinet on Tuesday approved the draft law on biosafety to legalise and regulate genetically modified organisms (GMOs). If endorsed by the National Legislative Assembly, this draft will become effective a year after being published in the Royal Gazette.

Five museums in one day

» Lining Ratchadamnoen Avenue are rows of architecture that mostly date back to over 70 years ago. In the past five years, some of these buildings have been turned into museums for people to visit and learn about Thai history and art. Nonetheless, not many people know there are at least five museums along this avenue and each of them are within walking distance. To promote visits to these five museums, the King Prajadhipok Museum and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration have been running the Museum Route campaign until the end of this month.

Animal rights should be human instinct

» Day after day, I hear sad stories about tortured or abandoned animals and shed tears. With a weary heart, I have long hoped Thailand would pass a law to combat animal torture and ensure proper care for animals. Fortunately, the long fight for animal rights is almost over, as the draft law on animal protection passed all three readings by the National Legislative Assembly last week.
