Unity in Olympics

» If Covid-19 had not struck the planet, we would be enjoying humanity's most celebrated sporting event by now -- the Summer Olympics. This year's Olympics has been postponed and rescheduled to take place between July 23 and Aug 8 next year, leading many to now refer to it as Tokyo 2020+1. Anyway, thinking about the Olympics takes my thoughts back to Atlanta 1996.

Thai boxing in Ayutthaya

» From March 16-17, the World Wai Kru Muay Thai ceremony will be performed at the Ayutthaya Historical Park in Ayutthaya province. The 15th annual festival is aimed at showcasing Thai martial arts and paying respects to Nai Khanomtom, a famous Thai boxer during the Ayutthaya period. Nai Khanomtom Day falls on March 17.

» Boxing may not be popular as a sport these days, but as fitness training, it has become trendy among working men and women. On social media, videos of people doing mitt drills are a common sight. To the untrained, they may look cool. But often when I watch these clips, I see myself pretending to do ballet moves. I wince.
