A war worth watching

» Despite being critical and commercial successes upon their release, the Planet Of The Apes reboot franchise -- beginning with 2011's Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and followed by 2014's Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes -- never really registered on my radar. I did watch the 2011 film when it was first released, though I didn't find it particularly memorable. I completely forgot about the second, and only realised 15 minutes into War For The Planet Of The Apes that it was in fact the third and closing feature in the series.

To commemorate and honour the humanitarians and environmentalists who gave up their lives protecting the rights and environment of their local communities, the Bangkok Arts and Cultural Center (BACC) will host the For Those Who Die Trying exhibition, featuring photographs showcasing 59 human rights and environment activists who have been murdered or abducted over the last 12 years. The exhibition will begin on Jan 31 and will continue until Feb 5. On opening day at 10am, a documentary about the photographs made by human rights activist Luke Duggleby will be screened and the 90s String Quartet will perform.

Attack On Titan lays on the gore, but is short on plot

Life, Kanin Srimaneekulroj, Published on 28/08/2015

» Based on the massively popular manga series of the same name, Attack On Titan is a film that constantly skips the line between lip-biting tension and comically over-the-top Japanese anime tropes that don't translate well to film at all. The result is something that is entertaining in small bursts, but is ultimately forgettable and even cringe-inducing in parts.
