Smells like Old Spice

Muse, Chet Chetchotisak, Published on 21/08/2010

» In case you haven't heard of Old Spice, they do men's products such as shaving soap and aftershave lotion. They started with a classic original scent in white glass bottles before changing to red plastic, branching out as deodorant sticks, body washes and sprays in several scents. Their shower gel is accompanied by the slogan "The original. If your grandfather hadn't worn it, you wouldn't exist." And whether you want to smell like Old Spice or not doesn't matter. The commercial for the brand, "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like", is nevertheless awesome. Yes, I'm talking about the famous, 10-million-views-plus series of commercials on YouTube. The commercials were done creatively with flawless use of sets and backdrops. The catchy whistle play goes well with the clip.

Perhaps we can just skip 3G altogether?

Database, Don Sambandaraksa, Published on 18/08/2010

» Should we skip 3G and go straight for 4G? Or do we need to walk before we run and evolve? A couple of years ago, I was all for leapfrogging to 4G. What a shame

Database, Published on 18/08/2010

» Oracle, which recently bought Sun Microsystems - and thus the rights to Java - sued Google for using and misusing Java in the Android operating system and the world's new, most-popular smart phones; Google broke seven different patents, and Larry Ellison's Oracle has demanded a jury trial; Google briefly noted what a shame it is that "Oracle has chosen to attack both Google and the open-source Java community with this baseless lawsuit," and a bunch of lawyers are going to get new Mercedes before this one is finally settled with a huge exchange of money.

Blowing it all, almost

Database, Published on 11/08/2010

» Hewlett-Packard CEO Mark Hurd fuelled one of the year's best stories in technology, with a low-life achievement of the non-technology type; he faked expense accounts and acknowledged sexual harassment - but not actual relations - with an employee; Hurd make his reputation as an incredibly good CEO who took HP back to the top in almost all fields, and then the married father of two blew it all; well, make that "almost all" and only including the reputation; Hurd will have to struggle along on the $28 million "golden parachute" deal he got by resigning - $12.2 million in severance pay and 350,000 shares of HP stock, in all just a little short of 900 million baht; of course some of that will go towards what the smarmy ex-CEO called a "settlement" with the woman he harassed, who in turn said nice things about how surprised and saddened she was that Hurd was dumped from HP.
