» Today is the last day of 2021 and depending on when you’re reading this, you may only have a few more hours or even just minutes to say goodbye to the year that’s basically been a repetition of 2020. There have been a number of ups and downs as we went through another lockdown and reopening, but the good news is that we made it: we’re still here and still trudging along, though some of us would really like to get a breather from all the craziness.
A city getaway

» Travelling to a nearby province for a beach or a tranquil mountain stay is great, but just staying in the city offers as much as all the trappings of a getaway. Maybe you just want to stay within the confines of the hotel to relax and enjoy what they have to offer rather than go out exploring while huffing in a mask. If a wonderful city staycation is what you're after then Centara Grand at CentralWorld's "The Place to Be" package has pretty much everything you need.

» Cinemas are back! After another semi-lockdown that forced cinemas to close, we can finally enjoy a proper movie-going experience again. Sure, it might be capped at 50% capacity and you can only sit with one person beside you instead of the classic cinema experience of having your girlfriend on your left while a dude who munches popcorn loudly is on your right. Sigh, nostalgia! But we'll take what we can get for now. Though it's easy to simply go to the nearest mall to go to the cinema, we're spotlighting places that offer a different experience. These indie cinemas deserve as much love as any of the multiplexes do. After losing iconic places like Scala and Bangkok Screening Room, we should do what we can to keep these cinemas alive. Get the popcorn and settle in. It's time to go back to the movies.
A bloody Irish jaunt

» You would think that a game as massive as Assassin's Creed Valhalla wouldn't need an expansion and yet here's Wrath Of The Druids, which was released earlier this month. Tagged by Ubisoft as only the first major expansion in an unknown number to come, the add-on gives the already hefty game even more stories, mysteries and locations to discover and explore. But is more necessarily better?
Work it out

» Working out comes easily to some and is embedded in their routine, but to others like me, it can be a bit of a struggle to stay consistent. The pandemic and semi-lockdown (though the government won't call it that) make it even more challenging. Why work out when you've got a perfectly good couch seducing you to take a nap and a whole bunch of Netflix shows on your "My List" to be watched? But if there's ever a more crucial time to make sure we stay healthy and fit, it's now. We're setting all the excuses, the nap times and the Netflix aside -- or at least we try and do our best to -- to look at workouts that can be done anywhere without the need of a gym or park.

Adapted from a series of books that have been dubbed as "The Grishaverse" written by Leigh Bardugo, the series centres around a young woman named Alina Starkov, who discovers she has powers, making her part of an elite group of people known as the Grisha.

» It's 2009. Barack Obama was sworn in as US president. Protesters are on the street (different protesters though, not like the ones protesting now). Your iPod contains hits like Boom Boom Pow, I'm Yours and even though you hide it, you also listen to that new blonde girl's song called Love Story because it's a bop. And then there's this new thing called Facebook that people seem to be using more and more. You don't know if you're willing to give up your pimped out Hi5 profile complete with a glittery background and a MP3 player loaded with Big Ass' Len Kaung Soong but you decide to give it a shot. More than 10 years and a number of privacy issues later, you're still using Facebook along with a number of other social networking apps, but perhaps you may be looking for other ways to build a community and meet new people. Perhaps you want to meet like-minded people like you who share you love for entrepreneurship or memes, and maybe you even want to get on platforms that will actually make you some dough. Facebook isn't your only avenue. We've got you sorted on where else you can build or find a community that's right for you.
Mind games

» Existential questions like "Who am I really?" and "What's my purpose here in this world?" aren't really questions you'd think would be asked by a Call Of Duty game, yet surprisingly, Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War does address that in a sort of mind-bending way. Oh, and you also get to jump into shoot-em-up game modes with other players that make you realise just how much of a noob you are but hey, that's Call Of Duty for you.

» The streets of the city have roared back to life, rush hours are a thing once more and the busyness of Bangkok has returned. On one hand, it's great that everything seems to be coming back to normal.

» The Last of Us was a groundbreaking game that took players through an emotional story with nail-biting tension due to trying to sneak around undetected and also having a number of good scares provided by the zombie-like creatures known simply as the Infected. In fact, the game was so good that Neil Druckmann, the game's director, admitted that he was wary of making a sequel. Obviously, they figured out a way to continue the story and make another game that would hopefully satisfy players worldwide. But does it?
