» Growing up in Surin, the border region between Thailand and Cambodia, Marisa Srijunpleang developed a keen interest in the histories of both countries. However, she noticed that some historical stories were missing from written records. After talking to family members, she was surprised to discover they were survivors of the 1975 Khmer Rouge genocide, and how they had been directly and indirectly affected by the war.

» Assoc Prof Supreedee Rittironk has had a special interest in bamboo, so he decided to research the plant during his PhD in architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in the US. After returning to Thailand, he became a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Thammasat University, Rangsit Center. In 2010, he launched an elective class called Bamboo Studio for fourth-year students.

» Anita* is a student at Prathandongrungwittayakarn School in Kanchanaburi who participated in UOB Money 101: Teen Edition -- a financial literacy programme launched by UOB Thailand in collaboration with the Thailand Collaboration for Education (TCFE) in 2021. After completing the six-hour programme, she established a food delivery business targeting teachers and students.
A swim for the sea

» In late April, Psi Scott, a Scottish-Thai marine conservationist, along with 36 volunteers set a new record for Southeast Asia in a swimming relay of over 70km, crossing the Andaman Sea to raise awareness about marine conservation and plastic waste reduction. Psi also became the youngest swimmer to establish a new open sea swimming record for Asia -- 50km in two days without equipment.

» Noom* auditioned for many singing groups, but he was always rejected since he did not have a degree in singing. Meanwhile, at a tender age, Ton* experienced an embarrassing moment while singing onstage as his trousers were unzipped and the audience laughed at him. Since then, he has given up singing in public.
