» Around May to July every year, I set my calendar to visit the East as it is fruit season. Last week, I went to Klaeng, a coastal town in Rayong province. I planned to get fresh ripe fruit from an orchard, take in the fresh sea breeze and visit the memorial park of Sunthon Phu, one of the great poets of the early Rattanakosin era.

» At the Kuroshio Market in Wakayama Prefecture in Japan, visitors can experience a live show of fresh tuna preparation for sashimi and sushi dishes. I visited the market in 2018. To me, the market looked more like a food court.

However, during my recent trip to Jaipur, I was surprised to see people riding camels and elephants on the other side of the road, while our minibus was stuck in traffic alongside public buses, cars, horse carriages, rickshaws and swarms of motorcycles.

Japanese idyll

» The train was approaching Wakayama Station in the city of Wakayama in Japan. It was outstanding and different from other trains because it has a face like a white cat. There were two brown ears at the top. Two windows for the driver at the front looked like its eyes while there were three lines of whiskers on both cheeks next to a round nose and a straight mouth. The name of the train was the Tama Dencha, or Tama Train.

» Hinoki Land has been opened as a new attraction in Chiang Mai. It is located in Chai Prakan district, about a 2.5-hour drive from Chiang Mai Airport. Also known as Ban Mai Hom in Thai, the property is owned by Anirut Chuengsudprasert, who loves the fragrance of hinoki, or Japanese cypress.
