Proving its worth

Life, Vanniya Sriangura, Published on 07/09/2018

» The sight of courteous-yet-joyful diners flocking Le Normandie's dining room on a weekday lunch strongly confirmed my belief that it's not just the Michelin stars that made this 49-year-old restaurant so beloved.

Guru, Nianne-Lynn Hendricks, Published on 07/09/2018

Haus of burgers

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 07/09/2018

» Just a few minutes' walk from BTS Ari, Cast Iron Burgerhaus has been open for almost 10 months but has already established itself as a go-to place in the area when you're craving a burger. The resto isn't that huge but what it lacks in size it compensates for with its chill feel. Hotel Insider

Guru, Pasavat Tanskul, Published on 07/09/2018

» With a passion for travelling, hotels have always had a special place in her heart for Wimintra Raj. As a child, her parents would take her to hotels where she enjoyed dining at the buffet and was mesmerised by the magical act of having her room looking nice and clean the next day. Today, she owns a factory for hotel uniforms and has partnered with an environmentally-friendly factory in China that produces recycled uniforms, as well as being the founder and editor-in-chief of Hotelintel.co, a business-to-business (B2B) publication. The website serves as a portal for news of all things hotels, hospitality and industry-related investment, and features hoteliers and chefs based in Thailand. A graduate in political science, Wimintra is undertaking a micro master's degree online for hospitality management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. As the website turns four this year, it will be hosting a panel discussion at Gaysorn Village on Sep 27 titled 'Communcation that Sells'.

Nothing standard about it

» Having worked as the assistant of hospitality for trailblazer Barry Sternlicht when the Starwood empire was just getting launched, Amar Lalvani was right at the birth of the whole "cool lifestyle hotel" movement as it came into fruition 20 years ago. "I was there since the beginning and I loved it," the California-born hotelier recalls. "I didn't seek it, but when I saw it, it encapsulated everything I liked to do so I just stuck with it."
