» The exposure of alleged corruption in a teacher’s welfare fund has revealed a deep-rooted lack of transparency at the Ministry of Education. It is a shame that money which was supposed to help build knowledge in our children was badly spent. A large amount of the education-related budget ended up in bad investments made by the top management at the ministry. In addition, there have been scandals involving the teachers' welfare fund and also revelations that many teachers are still struggling financially, in spite of government efforts to increase their salaries and welfare benefits over the past few years. These teachers may need lessons in financial matters too.
