» The Nikolaj Coster-Waldau on television screens and the one in real life share a striking similarity -- both are adamant in their wills to fight off the White Walkers.

» Life has meaning again, now that Downton Abbey has returned to our TV screens, its fifth season beginning last Sunday. Its otherworldly visuals continue to draw me in, with the upstairs goings-on of the aristocrats and the downstairs drama among the servants still as captivating as ever. I actually have to remind myself every time I watch an episode that people from another continent in this world of ours actually lived like this less than 100 years ago: that cooks had to dine separately from the rest of the servants in a stately home; that members of the upper class changed clothes as often as five times a day; that it was inconceivable that a proper lady or gentleman would have to perform actual work to earn a living.

» Gone is the midnight-blue vortex of twinkly stars and mystical allure that personifies the Matina Amanita jewellery boutique at Central Embassy. In its place now sits the amped-up and edible world of Sretsis. Sretsis Parlour, which recently celebrated its grand opening last week, is the Sretsis sisters' latest brainchild, which serves fantasy on a plate: the taste of Sretsis is nothing short of Blossom Baby cakes, heart puffs and intricately printed fine bone china -- all to be nibbled in a place where, from floor to ceiling, not a single inch is unadorned or boring to look at.

"I was there since the beginning and I loved it," the California-born hotelier recalls. "I didn't seek it, but when I saw it, it encapsulated everything I liked to do so I just stuck with it."

» It's true how beautiful people can do no wrong. They can be doing nothing in front of a screen for 10 minutes and people will still be entranced. That was exactly how Ariana Grande's first concert in Bangkok last Thursday kicked off. With a countdown video of her checking herself out looking pretty, swinging around her hair, interacting with her crew and teasing the audience with "I-can't-hear-you" by leaning her ear in towards the camera.

» C.B. Cebulski may have been working at Marvel Comics for the past 17 years, but figuratively, he's been with the superhero powerhouse for 40 years -- becoming a fan the second his father handed him his first X-Men comic when he was five.

» Central Embassy has worn many faces. Its positioning has shuffled around from ultra-luxury to hipster to a lifestyle hub, but one thing's for sure. When they've reeled in a world-class model like Kiko Mizuhara as the face of their ad campaign, there's no doubt that it strives to be a world-class destination.
