» Problems commonly faced by Bangkokians living in small alleys in Bangkok include the lack of footpaths, danger and vibration caused by running lorries and big buses, and the mushrooming of high-rise buildings. To me and my relatives, we encounter most of these problems.

» In December, I expressed concerns about the bad reputation of Chinese tourists in Thailand and other countries. Unfortunately, problems caused by them have persisted and many Thais have started to react. Last month, Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai imposed a temporary ban on Chinese tourists after some of them dirtied the temple's toilets. Days later, a picture showed a Chinese tourist kicking sacred bells at a temple in Chiang Mai. Many Thais were understandably outraged.

» Shock was the very first feeling I had upon seeing a photo on Facebook informing me of the existence of the Thai Wildlife Hunting Society a few days ago. It was very quickly followed by anger. The Facebook page of this group is full of pictures of wild animal carcasses (monkeys, leopards, wild birds and many more) and the hunters’ weapons.
