The months-long spate of almost daily grenade and gun attacks at demonstration sites, courts and independent agencies such as the National Anti-Corruption Commission, as well as homes of individuals, might finally came to a halt.

» Since the anti-Yingluck (Thaksin) regime protesters began their "Bangkok Shutdown" operation on Monday, traffic in most of the capital has been free-flowing. For the past four days the first thing I do every morning is turn on the Google Maps app on my smartphone to check what it's like on the streets. Every day and at any time of day, the roads and expressways that usually appear in yellow or red on the map depending on the degree of congestion are now delightfully green. Traffic-wise it's as if Bangkok is still in the long holidays mood.
