Guru, Nianne-Lynn Hendricks, Published on 22/02/2019

» Bangkok, the urban concrete jungle, and its 'burbs are not known for its green... more for the lack of it. The parks in the city are, at the best of times, the only green relief city slickers have for any respite from the towering spaces. However, with the current pollution looming over the city, it has been difficult to spend much time outside. Fear not! To make sure we make the most of the outdoors once the smog has lifted, Guru has made a list of quaint places, new and old, to make sure you make the best of the sunshine and unadulterated air!

Crossword Puzzle: Thai PM Candidates Edition

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 22/02/2019

» As the March 24 election nears, the number of opinion polls have increased. On Sunday, one poll in particular caught my eyes. Super Poll announced the result of a survey, which I unofficially translate to "The Public’s Concern During Election Season". What made this poll stand out is that when they asked people about their specs for PM candidates, they use cryptic descriptions such as "Man in his 50s. Former leader of this country with high position" and "Man in his 40s. Former exec. A political activist." Instead of simply using their actual names like other polls? They did that to avoid violating any election rules, perhaps.

He is a full-time environmental activist and runs the Thai chapter of Precious Plastic in his spare time. Precious Plastic Bangkok (<a href="https://fb.com/PreciousPlasticBKK">fb.com/PreciousPlasticBKK</a>) is part of a global movement that enables the recycling of plastic with easy-to-build machines. Dominic started Precious Plastic Bangkok about a year ago and has held many workshops on how to "upcycle" used plastics. He tells us why plastic is too precious to be carelessly thrown away.

    No work, all play

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 15/02/2019

» Pop art has started to pop (wink wink) up a lot in the Big Mango, from curious structures at well-known malls to colourful, eclectic murals on faded walls. It wasn't a surprise then when SO Sofitel Bangkok welcomed pop/street artist Jisbar to showcase his vibrant pieces until Mar 13. The Paris-based artist has showcased his talent on canvases and other items like a bike (a design in collaboration with BMW and showcased at the exhibition) and even Cardi B's handbags. He's chosen Bangkok to be his first foray into Asia so Guru sat down and talked with him about his art and what drew him to Bangkok.
