The land values in SE Asia can only go down over the next twenty years as transportation costs of finished goods go nowhere but up. Anyone notice that oil is hanging in at the $70 dollars a barrel during the worst global recession since WW2? What do you think is going to happen to the price of bunker C when we go into recovery mode? That means goods produced in SE Asia will no longer be cheap to export. Flights will no longer be a practical option for tourism. There is barely any competition for land in Thailand now, what happens when the economy crashes? Look for mass unemployment leading to a kind of political instability never seen before by hungry masses. When the macro economic picture unfolds along with the ugly facts of political reality, you won't want to be any where near Thailand. All the little games the loca; politicians are playing with foriegners right now are produce a crop of foriegn negative sentiment as is already happening. Guaranteed, within a decade Thailand as a political entity will be falling apart. The center will crumble and those very (angry) (edit) people in the south are going to coming up for some payback. I would expect the Burmese and the Cambo's to start biting off adjacent pieces so watch where you "buy".
