» Hi, Can anyone help me or give me some advice please. Just recently my mother–in-law has visited her brother-in-law in Pattaya, and met a Thai man. The thing is she has just lost her husband of 30 years 4 months ago. She told us that she really likes him as he made her feel really special,...

    • Anonymous commented : Rooster - here your views of Thai Theravada Buddhist attitudes towards abortion (very close to those of the Catholic Church) are very different from those often found in Japan. There abortion is widely practised. The attitude in Mahayana Buddhism/ Shinto seems to be that a child is not a child until the moment of fully human consciousness - i.e. at birth.

» Just some comments from Thai lady side, please be known that my comments are from only my experience. Why do we look down Farang with dark woman? - They don't have the minimum standard for their wife. ( I have no complain marrying with bar girl. What the reason do you choose her to be your...

    • Anonymous commented : Hans. You are wrong about Thailand being the same or similar to Japan. If Siam and Thailand were are the similar or the same as Imperial Japan and Japan. Siam and Thailand would not be in the past and present positions economically, socially, nationally, politically, beside the political sovereignty. Majority of Thai citizens who are living in foreign countries are selected by foreign immigration laws. The real indigenous Thai people are mostly in foreign countries as contract laborers or those women who married foreigners. The vast majority of Thai citizens who immigrated to foreign countries are mostly non-indigenous urbanites with middle and upper economic classes. Another group is those educated and highly skilled Thai citizens who were financially supported and educated by Thai tax payers; these people refused to return to fulfill their obligations for Thai societies. They are mostly healthcare professional people. These were are resulted from selves-serving policies of urban elites and their allies who did not care about the rural and unclass masses. There are clear social, economic, and political divisions in Thailand that were are caused by various foreign pollutions. Today Japan represented their consistant and steadfast political, economic, and social policies throught out these past and present centuries that served and serving the interests of Japaneses and their nation. Compare the case of the Gripen jets, Japan would demand technology transfer and partially assemble the jets in Japan as they had done with jets brought from USA; this is one example that shown Japan to have better leaders who were are truely serving their Japaneses and their nation. Siam was the first nation in Asia to developed Airforce, but Thailand is now not leader in aviation in Asia because the leadership fell to have and to make the right visions at some points than and now.

    • Anonymous commented : Rooster - I completely agree with you about Thailand and Japan not being similiar. In fact, I'd say they are almost opposites : in Japan, work is more important than family. In Thailand, family is more important than work. In Japan rules and regulations are everything. In Thailand these count for almost nothing : corruption rules. In Japan the honour system is SO strong, that even today politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, etc., exposed as corrupt redeem their shame by comitting suicide, in Japan's traditional manner. When was the FIRST TIME anyone ever heard of a Thai doing that ?

    • Anonymous commented : But I think most countries in Asia, actually in the world, including Japan, Family is more important than work. But the difference between Japanese and Thais, based on my opinion, is the attitude of work. Thai people are pretty lazy compare to people in our neighbour countries. In the past, Thailand was plentiful in term of agriculture. We were not be colonized. Our country was so peaceful. (only the war with Burma but it was not a big war compare to other wars in the region.) So, our life was kind of comfortable. We didn't need to work very hard. We could survive by agriculture whereas our neighbour countries had to work very hard for survival. The affect is Thais are easygoing, unhurried, kind of lazy... you see, why lottery is so popular here. Corruption is never died. They'd prefer to lie you or cheat on you for selling product once instead of planning long-term strategy for keeping customer sustification. Parents never feel guily to sell their daughter to be minor wife, be bar girl or be sold by rich guy. (how can people who earn money by easy way realize the value of the money. Money's come fast, money's gone fast too.) There is not only Thailand where is a lot of poor people, but also many countries in the world. So, please don't say that poor Thais have no chance to work. It's up to them to choose which way to survive. I don't complian only Thais who choose easy way to make money e.g. a bar girl who work less harder and get higher paid compare to a salary woman. The problem is also from Thais law which is kind of support entertainment industry. Thus, there is no wonder why you see a lot of special massage place, including Entertainment place, in Thailand. So, my conclusion is we need to improve our education. We must teach our new generation to "Think", not only "follow and copy". They have to plan for long-term, not think for only survival. I wish my country will be developed as equal as Malaysia.. soon.. (since we were more advance than Malaysia 15 yrs ago. but now) I wish my country will be not overtaken by Vietnam, Philippine along with Indonesia soon..

» Dear All, I have read many interesting topics here. Mostly, were written about Thai women. Some have bad experience with bar girls, but saying in the big picture as Thai women. Those who have been suffered from bar girls questioned why do bad stories hit them and blamed their ex. I, as a not-bar...

    • Anonymous commented : Colin - these laws were originally brought in by Thailand's military dictatorships to prevent, or circumscribe, take-over by the Chinese. This was not such a paranoid fear, as the Chinese have largely suceeded in dong this - despite the laws. In other words, these laws have not worked. They simply keep Thailand poorer than it would otherwise be, while Chinese control 60% of the economy. It was always a pretty ridiculous idea that the farang were going to take-over Thailand's economy, though the British did try immediately after WW2, when they were blocked by America's Congress. There again - these laws had nothing to do with preventing that. Anyhow Japan is currently Thailand's biggest foreign investor. Are the Japanese "farang" ? Not according to strict definition of the term. But no-one talks about Japan "taking over". If they did they would be laughed at - and that, among much else, shows how ridiculously silly these laws are.

    • Anonymous commented : Whenever listening to new theory of Farang origin (word), it reminds me of my children's talkies. Brother "Look, the elephant, dropping, walks !" Sister " It looks like, Pen cakes are following the elephant !". Hellow Leum Lao, before forgetting, let me correct you some. The European crusaders had never spilled over the Persian and its east !!!. Why ?, then the powerful Genghis Khan settled down in Persia. As the history says, the last pitching Franks crusaders asked Genghis to lead against then powerful Egyptian Lamluke force but Genghis refused after checking the Egyptian force was rather naval force than land infantry (Just they were failed by 'Gamigaze' in Japan monsoon wild sea). The Frankos thought the earlier ethnic cleansing of Bagdad by Ghengis would be religion hatred. In fact, it was long overdue, sweat revenge to those bagdad merchants who abducted Mongloian children to China slave market. Also the Frank misunderstood of real political doctrine of Ghenis, who in fact aimed to unify all Mongolian stocks under his control. His east Europe campaign was to connect, the lost link of Tungus who were believed settle down around Baltic sea. This doctrine was supported by the fact that, they invaded only northern vietnam who are regarded a mongoloid, Not absolutely tai, siam, khmere or bramin. Egyption navy and Europeans was on show down around cyprus island and both were annihilated. Anyhow, the Mongol's east Europe invasion was the primary, the last cause to stop the long crusade campaign and europeans quickly returned to house and mended the fence.

    • Anonymous commented : Age-gap between consenting adults is not nearly such a shocker in East Asia as it is in Westerner countries. Not only in Thailand is it very common to see young adult women going out with, etc., with older men. It is also very common in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, mainland China, Indonesia, etc., etc. And shock of shocks - it is also not so uncommon to see older women with their younger "toy-boys". Oh - how dreadful !!!!!

Quick and practical way to get my thai girl to US for visit or living

By Anonymous, Created on: 10/05/2007, Last updated on: 18/06/2007

» First off let me tell you about Natesai. I visited Thailand for the first time in January 07. I met my girlfriend not long after in Pattaya (where she has a clothing shop). She is from a poor background but is a sweet girl that I really grew to care about. I am in the US, Hawaii, 29 years...

    • Anonymous commented : Mike After I give you the go slow, be careful words, I can tell you what I did.. I obtained for my wife (now ex-wife) 2 US tourist visas, one 10 year multiple entry tourist visa, plus visas for Japan (3), and the Schengan states (3). I think I have experience in these matters. You can do the process yourself and save alot of money. First, apply for the correct visa. Many cases get rejected because the Thai girlfriend applys for a tourist visa when in fact the real purpose is not tourism but to see if the relationship will work out. The US embassy sees through this and as a result the visa is rejected. (In my case I was retired, spending more than 1/2 the year in Thailand and I explained that she did not plan to immigrate.) Many apply for the tourist visa as it is quicker than the fiancee visa but it not the route to go. In your case the fiancee visa is the best. It gives you an opportunity to see if the relationship will work. There is a income standard that you must meet but your income is more than enough. Go on the Homeland Security website and you can download all the forms. Follow them carefully right to the letter. But again, let me add a note of caution.. Go slow.. Good Luck

    • Anonymous commented : You must know the culture and tradition of China, Korea and Japan. These three countries regard it very much Shameful to their society if son or daughter marry foreigners, especially farang. They regard especially local woman carrying farang or mixed blood children, as 'prostitute' who gave body at money. Because through farang invasion into China, USA occupation of Japan, Korean war, they saw it by their own eyes. They avoid absolutely marrying African, Arab, Indian and south eastern asians whose complexion is deeply darkened. Three countries people in inter-marrying among them is not regarded cross-marriage and even today many millions of marriage are existant, in Shanghai, Manjuria, Seoul, Busan, Tokyo, Osaka or any part of this region. Today they accept northern Vietnamese man and woman because they are racially similar. However they avoid marrying Thai man and woman although there are some common-law relations seen but they do not take the Luk Geung (children with Thai wife) back to their own country but raise in Thailand. Auther here, I believe your marriage certainly have problem within three years, with many reason. Be careful.

    More Chinese Should Marry Thai

By Anonymous, Created on: 28/07/2006, Last updated on: 13/10/2006

» Given the increasingly close friendly economic relations between the two countries, why should n't more Chinese should be allowed to marry Thais ?

    • Anonymous commented : Ian. I am for exporting Thailand's local Chinese girls to PRC to marry those China-men who are the result of the "One Child Policy." Beside, even the ugly local Chinese girls do not want to marry local Thai farm boys. Better yet, Japanese farmers need wives and are unabled to marry urban Japanese girls. So more Thai urban Chinese girls need to go to Japan first since the living conditions there are much better than in PRC. Like the Thai-Chinese governor in the far Southern Thailand said, "everyone should have try some Chinese girls." He has commented about the redlight district in his governing province, which serving local and Malaysian customers beside other foreigners. These Chinese brothels appearancely imported in Chinese girls from PRC and elsewhere.

RE: My Mom doesn't Like Farangs

By Anonymous, Created on: 07/12/2004, Last updated on: 19/09/2007

» Your mom is right baby. Most farangs could'nt be entrusted. They consider your country as a backyard brothel that should yield to all their queer demands and nature. They look for cheap sex and free service. Sex that act on the woman as if she were a sex tool that responds automatically without resistance....

    • Anonymous commented : I remember when the Thais were having trouble with the Nigerian drug smugglers. They arrested them by the scores. The Thai officals remerked that the Nigers were the worst prisoners they had ever had. They would not obey prison rules and they ate too much is what the officals stated in the BKK post. How much did Mao hesitate before killing millions of his own people? How long did Japan hesitate before also killing millions of Chinese and tens of thousands of Thais, Phillipinos and Indonesians? What abot Pol Pot, the Kmer Rouge, North Veitnam or the Taliban? I do not remember any of them hesitating. How about the Sudan right now? Ugandan, Idi Amin, murdered on a whim. The Rowandan massacres were carried out in a mad rush.

    • Anonymous commented : It is about exposure and experience with foreign cultures. Those Thais, who are without experiences from foreign travels and or learning about different foreign cultures, are usually expose to them through movies. Chinese, Japanese, and Indian movies are showing on regular TV stations more often than foreign movies like European movies. Thai children are watching Japanese cartoons and action heroes on TV. Marshal art movies from Japan and HK are popular in cities. Indian musical movies are from Baliwood. Farang movies are mostly come from Hollywood. So farang images are coming mostly out of American movies with fast foods, fast cars, fast women, and fast guns.

    • Anonymous commented : Thailand does not have a dowery system. A dowery system is one in which the brides family pays the man to marry the girl. As in India. Thailand has the exact opposite - i.e. a bride system. I.e. the man pays for his bride. Both systems are symptoms of economic backwardness. In advanced capitalist systems - such as in the West, Japan, Singapore, S.Korea, Taiwan, etc. - the bride is more likely to marry you as an equal. She's already well educated, with money, etc.
