» Having fixated on an educational model of classroom-based teaching for almost two centuries, educational work is being disrupted by new technologies, modern methods of teaching and learning, and a new age of practical, real-world learning. Universities need new-age approaches that are in tune with changing realities as well as beneficial to students, who often complain about out-of-date education.

» What happens at the 2020 Olympic Games with the motto "United by Emotion" will stay in Tokyo forever. The organising committee has announced that it will be the first games without foreign spectators. This has never been the case since the first modern summer Olympic Games in Athens in 1896. Even now, no one is sure if Japan will be able to welcome more than 11,000 athletes to Tokyo this year.

Until a few days ago, climate change topped the global agenda, with science-based targets pointing the way to a cleaner, more sustainable future. But now, Russian President Vladimir Putin's reckless decision to invade a sovereign country and threaten nuclear war has revealed weaknesses in the architecture of international rules and multilateral governance. It is hard to believe that global environmental efforts have any chance of succeeding within such a fragile system.
