A moral exemplar

» Re: "Legal eagles voice worries over Thaksin's pardon bid", (BP, Oct 1). Whatever naughtinesses he may have been accused of, it cannot be denied that Thaksin Shinawatra continues to prove a moral exemplar to the nation in at least two areas. The first is that he faithfully follows the traditional example of accumulating the greatest possible sufficiency of extreme wealth; the second is that he entertains as unfailingly as Lisa Manoban herself, albeit with his humorous approach to preached legal norms rather than with her doubtless impressive song and dance routines.

Echoes ignored

» Re: "With Iran war, US is alone", (World, March 6). The Deputy Director of the German Marshall Fund, Kristina Kausch, is upset that US President Donald Trump has not sought the world's approval in his quest to destroy Iran's military abilities and for the removal of its genocidal dictatorship. One which screams daily: "Death to Israel" and "Death to America". (Time Off, Bangkok Post, March 8).

Moral right to protest

News, Postbag, Published on 03/03/2020

» Veera Prateepchaikul in his March 2 column, "Student rallies need careful handling", could more plainly have stated that the students have moral right and reason on their side. The government of the man who overthrew Thailand's supreme rule of law in 2014 to make himself prime minister, whose coup also trampled into the dirt, yet again, Thailand's form of democracy, now preaches that the law is sacred and warns about touching the high institution. The hypocrisy is obvious to the least intelligent or informed, let alone to the students at Thailand's top schools and universities.

Baht flow puzzle

» Re: "The baht's troubling rise", (Editorial, Sept 22). It is much discussed in the media and on social media about the mysterious inflow of money that causes the Thai baht to strengthen. Accounting-wise, the inflow is recorded as "Errors and Omissions". Even the finance minister-to-be said that he would have a discussion with the Bank of Thailand (BoT) about the issue. It is feared that the inflow is grey money.
