» Ah, taxis. Can't live with them, can't live without them. Unless you live along the skytrain or subway station or you have the capacity and willpower to survive riding a bus, then taxis are the vein of your existence in terms of transportation. Sure, there are alternatives now like Grab and Uber (legality undetermined but hey, this is Bangkok), but for the longest time before those apps came to save us, we depended on good ol' taxis. Knowing that, we thought that each of us probably had a few interesting taxi rides and we decided to ask you to send us some of yours. You didn't disappoint. » Exercise is considered painful and off-putting for some people. In a city like Bangkok where stress can run high and traffic can eat away at your "me time", people find it hard to put a round in at the gym or are too tired at the end of the day. The cheap food all over the city doesn't help either. But Absolute Cycle is set to change your perspective on exercise with rhythm cycling, a fun and energising way to shed kilos. A special treat for Bangkokians is that Sunny Walters, a New York native who has instructed SoulCycle sessions in the US and has worked as a professional dancer for the likes of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, as well as appearing in the musical film The Greatest Showman, is serving as guest instructor for six months at Absolute Cycle. Guru asked her a few questions on rhythm cycling and what she's looking forward during her time in the City of Angels.

» In the smog-filled, traffic-ridden city of Bangkok, things can get a little hectic in the lives of us, city dwellers. Crowded trains take a toll, being stuck on Sathon Road for what seems like days on end is infuriating and the daily grind of going to work can be tedious. Thankfully, there are places like KERK that offer Bangkokians a respite from stress-filled days.

How Thai Chinese are you?

» As the editor (and the Thai-Chinese token of this magazine), I would like to celebrate Chinese New Year with a fun test to gauge how Thai-Chinese you are. I mean, according to Theraphan Luangthomkun's Language, Nation And Development In Southeast Asia, it was estimated that there are about 26 million Thais of full or partial Chinese descent. So, Happy Chinese New Year to about 40% of the Thai population, I guess.
Flower and filmmaker

» Anucha Boonyawatana is a Thai transgender, independent filmmaker and founder of G-Motif. Her thesis film Down The River in 2004, won her the Young Thai Artist Award. She went on to collaborate with the Thai-American Public Health Agency and Unesco to direct Love Audition in 2008, which promoted health and relationships among Thai gay teens. In 2015, she made a directorial debut with The Blue Hour, which premiered at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. Her latest feature film, Malila: The Farewell Flower, has been shown at several film festivals around Asia, having won the Kim Ji-seok award at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival. The romantic drama movie follows the relationship between two men, played by Sukollawat Kanaros and Anuchyd Sapanphong. It premiered in Thailand yesterday, so if you are bored of the usual mainstream movies, buy yourself a ticket be ready to ponder the fragility of life.

» Concerts are awesome. Here at Guru, we have been to a fair amount of live shows of our favourite artists and bands, despite the ridiculously expensive tickets. And with every concert we attend, we see and meet the same kind of people. From the fans that seem to know the lyrics of every song to the ones who just can't seem to put their phones down as they record every moment of the show. We took the time to list our favourite (or for some, least favourite) types of concertgoers in Thailand. All in good fun.
