Don't wait for the weekend
Life, Vanniya Sriangura, Published on 02/12/2016
» There was quite a bit of amazement upon my first visit to Every Day a Friday, a four-month-old eatery at the mouth of Soi Phrom Phong on Phetchaburi Road.

Abs, empathy and edge
Guru, Catherine Faulder, Published on 02/12/2016
» One hour with Chakrit Narula, a personal trainer at The Edge Boutique Gym (http://fb.com//theedgeboutiquegym) and you feel like you've done your bit for the year. Despite his military approach to working out, what we like about Chakrit is his ability to relate with us normal humans who don't work out - or plan to - 24/7. We aren't robots and we're very much driven by realness and that "yeah I'll get round to it" mentality. We stumble. We fall. We fail. Chakrit's seen about every colour of the human condition when it comes to physical fitness, and this translates in his ability to motivate us. He wasn't always all abs and bones you know. Here's his story.

New moons
Guru, Mika Apichatsakol, Published on 02/12/2016
» There's one food that no one ever needed to learn to love, and that's pizza. The universal appreciation for pizzas means that every once in a while duty calls for us to sacrifice our hard earned bikini bods to try all the new pizzerias in town. So appreciate these findings from our piggish pilgrimage. We've got everything from the highly competitive to harmlessly light-hearted. Enjoy and follow our footsteps, with caution.

Absolutely fabulous
Guru, Catherine Faulder, Published on 02/12/2016
» Having professional health and beauty experts on call to come into my home had always been something I'd dreamed of having, but I was always too lazy (and quite frankly, not clever enough) to build an app for it. I had it drilled into my brain that such luxuries were only reserved for Kardashian-calibre celebrities. But with FABbrigade, a Bangkok-based app that answers every woman's (and man's) pampering needs, I've been proved wrong. If you've got a smart phone, you need this in your life, ASAP. Save your credit deets on there and the beauty world becomes your pearl-filled oyster. If you've got enough cash, that is.

Coffee, my lord?
Guru, Catherine Faulder, Published on 02/12/2016
» We thought it would be worthwhile checking out the second branch of the slowly expanding Lord of Coffee empire. FYI, there are Lord of Coffee, Lord of Coffeehouse and Lord of Coffee Hideout. My Lord, maybe soon Bangkok will be heading straight back to feudal times. At least we'll have coffee!

Snitching on schnitzel's
Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 02/12/2016
» The setting: Alright, alright, we know what you were thinking when you saw the name. But no, this most definitely is not a German restaurant. And yes, although they do serve up pork schnitzel and sauerkraut, other delicacies like pork knuckle and stollen cakes are not on the menu. Located at the quiet end of Soi 38, this dainty and unassuming restaurant could have been mistaken for a small coffee shop. Step inside and the rustic décor -- with bare brick walls, a vintage collection of bric-a-bracs and collectibles from the owner's previous residence in the USA make up a warm, casual and inviting diner perfect for those days when you have a hankering for American-style comfort food.

Of art and alchemy
Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 02/12/2016
» If there's anybody in Bangkok who knows how to make a good cocktail, it's Vesper. Testament to this is not only the seemingly obvious, that they achieved 17th place in Asia's 50 Best Bars 2016, but the fact that they almost always find themselves completely packed out on a Tuesday night.
