» During the early 1970s, my main source of recorded music in Bangkok was a little shop called Rex Records on Phetchaburi Road. In addition to having a decent collection of vinyl albums, it also provided a useful service by transposing albums onto cassette tapes which was then the most common form of listening to music.

While Jade Donavanik, the former adviser to the Constitution Drafting Committee’s comments that “the Constitutional Court ruling will be binding”, ring true, it is important to remember that such a legal precedent is subject to the caveat that applies to all laws: Merely being legal confers neither rightness nor justice.

Experts at Unesco’s World Heritage Committee have delayed their decision to add Kaeng Krachan National Park — which was nominated in 2013 — on the heritage list after complaints by Myanmar about overlapping areas and a petition signed by the ethnic Karen in which they accused the Thai state of failing to recognise their cultural identity.
