Life, Ariane Kupferman-Sutthavong, Published on 21/04/2017

» There will be no more pushcarts with colourful umbrellas mounted on top, no more tasty meals and soothing, satisfying roadside snacks on the streets of Thong Lor, Ekamai and Phra Khanong. Instead of the clouds of smoke that formed above steaming, fragrant woks and charcoal grills, city dwellers are left with nothing but the fumes billowing from automobiles' exhaust pipes.

Guru, Narada Sai-ngam, Published on 21/04/2017

» Electronic duo X0809 (X-O-Eight-O-Nine) has pushed many boundaries in the Thai music scene in a way that we rarely see. Note Panayanggool, best known for being first runner-up in the seventh season of The Star and Anya "Yale" Muangkote first met at Chula due to a shared interest in music and sports, before eventually forming X0809. The dynamic duo produces their own music with unconventional style and visuals, having released English-language singles like the dark and hypnotic -30 and the more catchy HO. The colourful music video of the latter, the duo's latest single, has amassed over one million views on the band's Facebook page alone within one month. Their fresh sound has reached both Thai and international audiences and they have represented Thailand at various music festivals. We had a fun chat with the duo ahead of their upcoming EP, X. Check them out at fb.com/x0809.

You could go get the usual ones that you order or perhaps you could go for the slightly pricier ones in one of those fancy restaurants. Thankfully, Pezzo is offering us something that falls in the middle of the two.

» The Setting: Only a month old, Masu may seem like a typical hole in the wall resto. About a minute or two walk inside of Sukhumvit soi 39, the restaurant's small space may lead you to underestimate it. We certainly did. But never judge a restaurant by its size, because if there's one thing we can certainly say about this new, small sushi place, it's that it delivers.

    A Bangkokian trading card game

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 21/04/2017

» Before the days of Pokemon Go (have you forgotten that was a thing?), there were the numerous Gameboy games and then there was the Pokemon trading card game. It was basically a simpler version of Magic: The Gathering without the complexity and the commitment. Being the nerds that we are, we here at Guru have decided to create Bangkok's very own trading card game, complete with characters, spells, and items that are exclusively Bangkokian.
