» Re: "The vision and illusion of Thailand 4.0", (Opinion, Dec 23). It is of course absolutely correct to point out that Somkid Jatusripitak's vision for Thailand as a developed nation on par with the likes of Japan and Singapore cannot be achieved without a new generation of young people educated to a much higher standard than their predecessors, and equipped with critical and creative minds, which would of course depend upon the ability to express thoughts and opinions freely.

» Twelve people were killed in a Christmas market in Berlin on Monday, mowed down by a terrorist in a big truck. Elsewhere in Germany, if it was an average day, another 10 people were killed in or by motor vehicles. They are all equally dead; the only difference is the motivation of the man in the truck.
