    Toys R You

Life, Sasiwimon Boonruang, Published on 15/03/2013

» At birth it is an astronaut, a figure just landed and alien to its surroundings. With a large and faceless head, it's generic yet eye-catching. As time goes on, the blank canvas gathers character and it morphs into being, perhaps growing up to be a hilltribe doll or martial arts legend or a Star Wars character. This is a platform toy, which is all the rage among international design and toy enthusiasts.

    The art of travel

    Life, Published on 15/03/2013

» Our first guess is that a documentary about young backpackers embarking on a cross-continental journey must be more or less about seeking the meaning of life. We have a Pope, or not yet

Life, Kong Rithdee, Published on 15/03/2013

» So the Vatican chimney has belched out the white smoke. And as Pope Francis prepares for his papacy, here's a movie for your papal weekend. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger

Life, Kong Rithdee, Published on 15/03/2013

» Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained is a happy whip, drawing as much blood as laughter. It runs on Road Runner humour, fired by cruel comedy, cartoon revenge, cracking you up and making you wince, and that balancing act has always been one of the secrets of Tarantino's brilliance. Still, this is a serious film about history and how cinema appropriates history. In a year that most Oscar-contending titles lay pompous claims to accurate retelling of the past, from Argo, Zero Dark Thirty and Lincoln, the blissful disregard of "history" somehow makes Django the most truthful film of the lot. Or at least it feels truthful in spirit, leaving the grandstanding of other filmmakers looking spurious, frivolous, or simply wrong.
