    » The heat in Bangkok is oppressive. It looks like rainfall might be the only thing that could alleviate the April discomfort. I often think Bangkokians would be a lot happier to see the city getting a soaking once in a while, as long as the downpours resulted in some cooling gusts of wind, too. Of course, Songkran is just around the corner and that festival normally coincides with the heavens opening. But if the monsoon rains come late, like they did last year, it could be a sign of climate change that may lead to something we definitely don't want to see: flooding.
