    Plainly speaking

» The "English Speaking Year 2012" programme, initiated in preparation for the merging of the Asean Economic Community (AEC) in three years, would be given a much needed boost if a significant amount of funds could be channelled into cutting down the number of students per class in public schools and supporting their non-native-speaking Thai teachers with ongoing training, development and mentoring, advises leading education author and trainer Jeremy Harmer.

    Seat of Tranquility

    Life, Published on 19/03/2012

» This photograph was taken at Wat Chalong in Phuket, one of the most visited temples on the island by locals and tourists alike. My eye was caught by this elderly lady who had likely already visited the sites at the temple and was now taking time to relax and catch her breath, and probably waiting for others who had brought her here this day. With shoes half off, empty rice sticks beside her, and gazing at nothingness, this pose speaks a thousand words about this lady's satisfaction with the day out, and her ability to now turn off and enjoy the tranquility of the location and shade provided by an ancient tree in the middle of the grounds.
