Kate Moss of the East

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 26/05/2017

» Central Embassy has worn many faces. Its positioning has shuffled around from ultra-luxury to hipster to a lifestyle hub, but one thing's for sure. When they've reeled in a world-class model like Kiko Mizuhara as the face of their ad campaign, there's no doubt that it strives to be a world-class destination.

A touch of class

» We all have problems, but your super red arowana aquarium fish being too drowsy to entertain your house guests because it just returned from getting a facelift or being locked out of inheriting a 64 acre palatial estate in the heart of Singapore would surely only qualify as "rich people problems".

The man on the moon

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 28/04/2017

» The 60th-anniversary celebration of the Speedmaster featured plenty of stardust (I mean celebrities), but the event also saw the attendance of the space hero who wore Omega's rigorous test-racing watches to the Moon. Looking resplendent in a jazzy American-flag tie, with three Omega watches on his wrist and a highly unexpected number of rings for an 87-year-old, Buzz Aldrin is still a hoot when talking about his mission 48 years ago. With a laugh, the man insists he is living proof that the concept of selfies existed in his time too. After all, he first decided he wanted to take a photo of himself in space in 1966. It's only fitting that such a character inspired the name of Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear.

» A Rolls-Royce executive warns not to walk around the recently-passed Bangkok International Motor Show with Victor Braun. Speaking of his colleague who had flown in from the luxury car manufacturer's headquarters in England, he says: "He'll look at things and say, 'Oh, that's all wrong. That's not nice'. His trained eye from Paris makes his taste in art very sharp. He sees things we don't see."

Earn your stripes

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 17/05/2017

» If you are a loyal fan of Paul Smith's stripes, don't miss their pop-up store at Central Embassy this month, which brings the popping Artist Stripe to grand life in an installation on the first floor. Covering the floor, plinths and walls of the installation, the dark pastel rainbow runs through the space like a stick of Brighton rock candy. Those who aren't keen on completely sweet pastels or bold primary colours will love these combined shades that give a cute yet earth-hued touch to the brand's signature trademark. Think of chocolate brown paired with salmon pink, teal blue and mustard yellow.

Red summer soles

» The name Christian Louboutin need not be limited to the image of sexy and voluptuous. This French name may evoke daydreams of sky-high stilettos, with the shape of strikingly-thin heels and sharp, spiky studs to match, but last night's global launch saw a new kind of Louboutin kick to lust after.
