» Hailed as a woman who has revived modern tap dance, Sarah Reich commands a strong following -- her YouTube videos have garnered almost 1 million views. The tap awakens, indeed.

Smartphone catwalk

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 06/10/2016

» Fashion and technology are meshing to become applications on your smartphone, but most on the market are still painfully rudimentary and extremely laggy. In truth, many are made for the main purpose of making their merchandise available only a click away, but a few we've tried out offer something beyond an online store.

Three's a charm

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 08/09/2016

» One of the most anticipated fashion gatherings of the year is about to be smaller than ever. This year, Fashion Fieldtrip, which features shows by Bangkok's cultishly followed brands, including Asava, Issue and Vickteerut, will be welcoming only 150 spectators. This is a stark difference to the guest list that reached four digits in the past. Whether Fashion Fieldtrip is returning to its roots or is just finding an excuse to downsize in the face of an economic downturn has yet to be seen with how well the shows turn out on Sept 17 at Bangkok City City Gallery. Still, with this relatively new space at Sathon playing host to a handful of highly buzzed and hot exhibitions and events in the past few months, it is in good taste that the three founders of the club decided to hold their fashion/art exhibition inside this popular white box.

Peter Haymond is the US embassy's newest deputy chief of mission-- the No.2 in the line of command after the ambassador -- and is no rookie in Thailand. At a reception held at his ambassador's residence, he made a speech partly in English and partly in Thai, conveniently being able to turn to ask his wife for a better word to use because she, Dusadee, is Thai.

In the 513m² boutique, you'll be seeing lots of green, a very comprehensive display of the Oyster and Cellini collections (among other Rolex watches set with diamonds, sapphires and rubies) and a proper bar that could easily keep a party of 100 sipping all night.

Museum (store) dreams

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 28/07/2016

» The Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York is the second-most visited museum in the world, trailing only after France's Louvre. This legendary statistic alone should be more than enough to make this institution a must-see whenever you're in Manhattan. With over 20 centuries of artefacts around the world of cultural, historical and artistic significance, the museum's collection is one that Thailand may never rival.
