iPhone and Apple Watch for health awareness

» Last week Apple rescheduled its quarterly earnings call from Oct 27 to Oct 25: a Tuesday, apparently due to a scheduling conflict. Several commentators are hoping that there could be a new product announcement just before the weekend. Between the two dates is an event in New York when Microsoft will make announcements: "To see what's next for Windows 10." Some speculate there will be other interesting revelations.

» The iPhone 7 will be on sale in Thailand on Friday and I checked prices on some online sites. Dtac was hiding its information behind passwords: only for those who had pre-ordered. True showed the new iPhones contract-free, from 26,500 baht for the 32GB iPhone 7 up to 39,500 baht for the 256GB iPhone 7 Plus.

» Apple has a busy week this week. A few hours ago, the latest quarterly results were released. Late tomorrow, Apple has an event scheduled. The first Mac announced itself with the word "Hello", adding: "It sure is great to get out of that bag." The invitations for this week's event have "Hello again" on them. It is anticipated there will be new Macs.

An Apple product is like an iceberg: only a small part is visible above the surface; most is hidden.

Ordering a MacBook Pro; and Affinity Pro for Windows

» Reporting on Apple is sometimes perverse. Only a few hours after last week's eXtensions column, Apple opened the doors on its Thai site and the MacBook Pro went on sale here. Although the US site still showed delays of four-to-five weeks, the time was two-to-three weeks for those ordering here.

Although Apple has said nothing so far, the company is expected to take the device for examination. From photographs online, it looks as if the packaging had been crushed so it is unlikely to have been a manufacturing problem.
