» An element that exists and dominates the homes of many Thai families is a nicely framed family picture, where each family member is posed in a tamed gesture making serious eye contact with the camera _ with or without a smile. Artist and photographer Piyarat Piyapongwiwat found this kind of photography mysterious yet fascinating, but browsing through different family pictures it occurred to her that something was missing.

The artist from Tokyo is now based in New York City, and Sumi realises how living in a place that puts all the power cables underground makes it more orderly and beautiful. This observation has led him to create his first solo exhibition in this City of Angels.

» Last Tuesday on Channel 3's variety show Tee Sip At Ten), presenter Vitawat Sunthornwinate invited a gay man living with HIV on to the show to talk about his life before he became infected. After the show aired, many audience members expressed their displeasure on their Facebook pages as they felt that there was negativity towards gay men through Vitawat's words and how the episode stigmatised that every gay man shared a common lifestyle. Sadly, this is an example of how some media proclaim to create a better (or worse) understanding rather than stereotypical, old-fashioned views of LGBT in the society.
