Reunited and it feels so good

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 01/05/2020

» Back in E3 2015, Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced and welcomed by all fanboys and fangirls of the original 1997 game all over the world. Almost five years later and after a very, very long and anxious wait, the game finally arrived, defying Covid delays and giving gamers yet another good reason to stay at home. Is it better than the original? Perhaps that's the wrong question to ask because it's an entirely different game, but fans of the original will definitely agree that Remake stays faithful to its equivalent and brings nostalgic fun along with a few new twists.

» Staying home, barely going out, staying in your PJs for the majority of the day, taking them off to shower some time in the afternoon only to change into fresh cleaner PJs -- welcome to the new normal. I forgot to mention the part where you work from home but let's be honest, are you really working from home or did you just breeze past one season of a TV show you're now re-watching for the fourth time? Nevertheless, we all seem to be confined to our homes for the foreseeable future. » Tokiojo's location over at the student-hub of Samyan Mitrtown is a "blink-and-you'll-miss-it" situation. It may not be too big, but at the risk of sounding provocative, size doesn't matter when the place gives off some cool, urban Tokyo street-side vibes.

On a liquid diet

» Unless you're really health-conscious, on a cleanse or you're watching your weight, vegetable juices probably aren't your drink of choice. After all, they're not necessarily appetising. The taste of most vegetable juices take getting used to and after making numerous faces because of the odd tastes, you may start enjoying them. However, that's not the case for Paak. In fact, they may be the reason you start drinking vegetable beverages on a regular basis.

Behind the mask

» Coronavirus -- you've been hearing about it, reading about it, but knock on wood you haven't been infected by it. The world has been sent reeling these past few months because of the virus. Everyone is in a state of panic. Masks are in short supply, sneezing in public places garners dirty looks and everyone is convinced they're living in Raccoon City and the Umbrella Corporation is behind it all (get the Resident Evil reference?). But let's all chill for a sec, which may be difficult to do given the circumstances, but we need to get our facts straight which, apparently, is hard for the Thai Ministry of Public Health to do. Let's talk about Covid-19 and how it affects us in Thailand.

Secret services

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 28/02/2020

» Bangkok is rapidly becoming a city with innovations that make life much easier. Yes, we at Guru have complained a lot about the city's many negative aspects but we also can't deny that the city has improved. Is there room for improvement? Oh, definitely. But there are many things that we use right now that we simply cannot imagine life without. What would life be without the services of GrabFood to deliver meals to your door or Shopee and Lazada to do your shopping from the comfort of your home? How about the Lock Box storage facilities we see in many BTS and MRT stations that help tourists roam without having to drag their luggage with them? Can we forget about the lifesaving GrabTaxi and GrabBike services? There are more services on the rise that you may not know about and that's what we're here to spotlight this week.
