The challenge is thus to respond with more preparedness in the life cycle of existence, where work is a major contributor to not only human livelihood but also self-esteem, a sense of purpose and a sense of belonging. Act on neglected tropical diseases

» Earlier this year, world leaders began the process of committing to and endorsing the Kigali Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases. The declaration is a high-level statement meant to mobilise the necessary political will, community commitment, financial resources, and individual action to end NTDs. The Kigali Declaration will be launched at the Kigali Summit on Malaria and NTDs, held on the sidelines of this month's 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Rwanda.
Putin's actions prove Russia is a fascist state

» A few years ago, during a panel discussion on the politics of memory at a university in a German-speaking country, I called Russian President Vladimir Putin "the most powerful fascist politician in the world". Afterwards, the organisers shyly told me that while the event had gone well, the label I applied to the Kremlin leader was "too much" -- even though Russia had by that time already occupied Crimea and started a war in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region. I was surprised not so much by the organisers' comment as by the way they made it. They seemed genuinely embarrassed as if I had said something obscene.
